Augmented EMEO

Updated: 7 days ago

We have completed our augmented EMEO project. While we had previously modified the EMEO digital saxophone, this iteration focused on enhancing functionality and reducing overall weight through the use of a 3D-printed bell.

Key upgrades include the addition of a bite sensor (sending MIDI CC 1) and a lip switch (MIDI CC 21) for expressive techniques such as growling, pitch bending, and portamento (MIDI CC 5). We also integrated an extra MIDI button, which can be assigned to functions such as MIDI transposition or toggling a backing track, etc.

Additionally, we installed a MIDI switch beneath EMEO’s original octave keys, which can be programmed to shift octaves—extending the instrument’s playable range to three full octaves.

All additional MIDI signals are seamlessly merged with the EMEO’s original MIDI output and routed through a standard 5-pin DIN MIDI port. This allows for flexible connectivity options, including the use of wireless solutions such as the CME WIDI Master (Bluetooth MIDI) or the Panda MIDI (Wi-Fi MIDI) transmitter. Traditional MIDI cables can also be used for a wired setup. The entire system is powered by an external power bank, ensuring portability and uninterrupted performance.

We offer customization services and will tailor each customer's EMEO to meet their specific requirements.
